By 2003, early pioneers were using graphics APIs to perform general purpose scientific calculations on GPUs, and by 2007, NVIDIA responded by creating the CUDA architecture and programming language. GPU accelerated computing has evolved rapidly from there. This talk will briefly recount the history of GPU computing, assess where we are today, and explore how GPU computing will evolve over the coming decade as we pursue Exascale computing.
