Setting Trends for Energy Efficiency
SESSION: Setting Trends for Energy Efficiency
EVENT TYPE: Birds of a Feather
TIME: 12:15PM - 1:15PM
SESSION LEADER(S):Natalie Bates, Wu Feng, Erich Strohmaier
ROOM:250-AB
ABSTRACT:
You can only improve what you can measure, but that can be easier said than done.
The Green500, Top500, Green Grid and Energy Efficient HPC Working Group are collaborating on specifying workloads, methodologies and metrics for measuring the energy efficiency of supercomputing systems for architecture design and procurement decision-making processes.
A current focus on this collaboration is to improve the methodology for measuring energy in order to get an apples to apples comparison between system architectures. An improved methodology is under development and beta testing. This BoF will report on and review the results of the beta tests.
Session Leader Details:
Natalie Bates (Primary Session Leader) - Energy Efficient HPC Working Group
Wu Feng (Secondary Session Leader) - Virginia Tech
Erich Strohmaier (Secondary Session Leader) - Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
