DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:ABSTRACT: Over the last decade, InfiniBand has become an=0Aincreasingly popular interconnect for deploying modern supercomputing=0Asystems. However, there exists no detection service=0Athat can discover the underlying network topology in a scalable=0Amanner and expose this information to runtime libraries and=0Ausers of the high performance computing systems in a convenient=0Away. In this paper, we design a novel and scalable method=0Ato detect the InfiniBand network topology by using Neighbor-=0AJoining techniques (NJ). To the best of our knowledge,=0Athis is the first instance where the neighbor joining algorithm=0Ahas been applied to solve the problem of detecting InfiniBand=0Anetwork topology. We also design a network-topology-aware MPI=0Alibrary that takes advantage of the network topology=0Aservice. The library places processes taking part in the=0AMPI job in a network-topology-aware manner with the dual=0Aaim of increasing intra-node communication and reducing the=0Along distance inter-node communication across the InfiniBand=0Afabric.
