As the number of cores available on a chip continues to increase, the importance of power consumption will continue to grow. In order to achieve improved performance on multicore systems scientific, applications must make use of efficient methods for reducing power consumption and must further be refined to achieve reduced execution time.=0A=0ACurrently, more tools are becoming available at the application-level for power and energy consumption measurements. The available tools allow for the performance measurements obtained to be used for modeling and optimizing the energy consumption of scientific applications. This talk will describe efforts in the Multiple Metrics Modeling Infrastructure (MuMMI) project to build an integrated infrastructure for measurement, modeling, and prediction of performance and power consumption, including E-AMOM, Energy-Aware Modeling and Optimization Methodology.
